Description

The NHLBI intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for research on the development and progression of clonal hematopoiesis (CH), specifically clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP), in people living with HIV (PLWH) and individuals affected by other chronic inflammatory, infectious, or age-related conditions. The goals of this NOFO include elucidating the mechanisms by which chronic inflammation and HIV-associated factors as well as other contributing conditions such as aging, cardiovascular diseases, venous thrombosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and chronic inflammation in general promote CHIP; understanding the global variation in CHIP prevalence among PLWH and individuals affected by other chronic inflammatory, infectious, or age-related conditions; and determining the impact of CHIP on the heart, lung, blood, and sleep (HLBS) health of PLWH and individuals affected by other chronic or systemic conditions. The ultimate goal is to facilitate the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to prevent, treat, and potentially cure HLBS conditions initiated and/or accelerated by CHIP in PLWH and individuals affected by other chronic inflammatory, infectious, or age-related conditions.Applications are not being solicited at this time. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. Investigators with expertise and insights into this area are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this NOFO.
