Description

The Keweenaw NHP Preservation Grant program is intended to provide annual ONPS base funding to the Keweenaw NHP Advisory Commission to assist in the fulfillment of their legislated duties: to carry out historical, educational, or cultural programs which enhance understanding and preservation of the historic and cultural resources in the park and surrounding area on Michigan�s Keweenaw Peninsula. The program also makes possible annual funding to the Village of Calumet to cover a portion of costs associated with administration of the Civic and Commercial Historic District Ordinance. Additionally, the Keweenaw NHP Preservation Grant program is intended for occasional program funding of park partner enhancement projects that address preservation of historic or cultural resources related to the story of copper on the Keweenaw Peninsula. Eligible Applicants

Eligibility for these funds include the Keweenaw NHP Advisory Commission and owners or operators of nationally significant, or potentially significant, properties on the Keweenaw Peninsula located: within the boundaries of Keweenaw NHP; affiliated with an existing Keweenaw Heritage Site; at the Cliff Mine in Keweenaw County, along Torch Lake in Houghton County, or within the community of Painesdale in Houghton County.
