College Sexual Assault Policy and Prevention Initiative
Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health
Opportunity #: OWH-16-2
Description
The Office on Women s Health (OWH) announces the availability of funds for Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 for up to five (5) cooperative agreement awards. This notice solicits applications for projects focused on policies to prevent sexual assault on college campuses, from national or regional organizations that represent interest groups or populations at the individual college level. The Office on Women's Health (OWH) provides national leadership and coordination to improve the health of women and girls through policy, education and model programs. OWH works with numerous government agencies, non-profit organizations, consumer groups, and associations of health care professionals to advance this mission. Currently, one in five female college students are sexually assaulted, yet the crime is drastically underreported: only 2% of incapacitated sexual assault survivors (drunk, drugged, and otherwise incapacitated victims) and 13% of forcible rape survivors report crime to campus or local police. Unfortunately, many institutions have no or limited policies and procedures in place to address sexual assault. The initiative will provide national and regional organizations that have partnerships or affiliations with institutions with resources to enhance sexual assault prevention policies and educational activities based on the recommendations from the White House Task Force on Campus Sexual Assault, the Not Alone Campaign, and the It s On Us Campaign.
